Nuwu Art Opens Its Doors!
| Tour Cultural Arts + Activism Center
| Enjoy Outdoor Holiday Pop-up Shop
On Wednesday, December 23, 2020, Nuwu Art will have a soft opening of its facilities at 1335 S. Maryland Pkwy, inviting locals to tour the Cultural Arts + Activism Center. This month we are wrapping up Phase I of a grassroots, community-based project that we are excited to finally share with the wider Las Vegas community: Artist Studios.
The Nuwu Art, Cultural Arts + Activism Center is a POC-owned space in Las Vegas, Nevada, that works to uplift all communities through strengthening cultural knowledge and identity through the arts, activism, and education. We advocate for the equity of our respective and collective communities through an ongoing process of decolonization and celebration of our rich cultural heritages.
Nuwu Art is seeking allies and friends who have their hands in Arts + Activism to come share with us and learn more about the spaces we are building. We are reserving several Cultural Arts + Activism studios for current applicants, but there are still a few rental spaces available. (Application here)
We would love for you to come take a free tour with us – whether you’re interested in renting an art/activism space, want to build/collaborate for future community events, or simply want to find out more about what’s going down on Maryland Parkway. To schedule a tour on Weds, Dec. 23, please contact Nuwu Art via telephone or email.
Due to COVID precautions, the Nuwu Art team will be leading tours through the facilities by appointment only. Tours can include groups of up to 4 people, will last for approximately 30-minutes, and will be scheduled between 11am – 6pm. Masks and social distancing requirements will be followed to ensure everyone’s safety.
During the tours, an outside venue will showcase an authentic Indigenous Arts pop-up Holiday Shop, featuring hand-made Native American arts and crafts for those last-minute holiday shoppers. The Holiday Shop is open to the public and does not require an appointment, though social distancing and masks are still required at all times.
